75% of human emotions are based on what we smell. The sense of smell is 10,000 times more developed than the sense of taste in humans. So when a meal smells good, chances are that you enjoy it more.

Fragrance plays a very important role in human behavior and the theory is that smell, taste, and nutrients are linked. For example, take the trick of squeezing your nose when eating something dirty or the fact that we taste less when we have a cold. Smelling something sweet associates the brain with a sweet taste.

For example, the scent of vanilla extract can affect the taste experience and something can be experienced as “sweeter”.
